Choose Among The Many Available Options To Get Rid Of Your Mole

By Ria William

There are five major options that are open to any person seeking advice on how to get rid of a mole. Here, we are not looking at options in terms of how a person in that situation can get advice on how to get rid of a skin mole. We are referring to the actual methods that a person has to employ so he or she could be rid of these moles. Worth noting is the fact that most of these options entail working with a physician (or better still, a dermatologist). As we will be seeing, the respective options vary in terms of viability.

The first option that is available to anyone who is looking to remove a mole is by using a sharp surgical tool (like a scalpel) to cut off the mole. This is also termed as excision. This is the most commonly used approach. It is often the case that administering anesthesia around the mole is needed in order to mitigate or eliminate the pain that will be involved during the excision itself. Stitching may be involved if the excision will result in a wound that requires it to be closed up by the one who performed the excision.

There is a second option available to those who want to be mole-free. After the mole has been excised or cut off, the tissue around it would undergo cauterization. If you compare the results of pure excision and excision followed by cauterization, the latter would have better results.

The third option that is open to a person seeking advice on how to get rid of a skin mole is that of having the mole eliminated through exposure to a laser beam. The advantage associated with this approach is that it reduces the chances of scar formation substantially. But application of this method is limited only to moles which are superficial in nature. Deeply rooted moles cannot be removed because the laser beams cannot penetrate as deep as their roots. And there is the sad fact that most of the skin moles that we want to get rid of are deep-seated, in nature.

The fourth option that is open to a person seeking advice on how to get rid of a skin mole is that of having the mole eliminated through cryotherapy. It is a rather neat solution, but it is not always very effective.

You still have a fifth option, though. In order to remove your moles, you can simply make use of various medications with tissue-destroying properties. Their non-invasive nature tends to make people feel more confident about these medications being safer than other treatments. However, never forget that using them means tissue destruction. Thus, they destroy all tissue that they happen to come into contact with. Skin damage is a likely result, considering how potent the ingredients are. That is why many doctors are likely to discourage the use of these medications, especially by people who are only seeking to get rid of skin moles. They would hesitate making use of these potent medicines and would actually recommend that you undergo any of the other surgical procedures to remove your mole. As it turns out, the risks are higher if you take the medications instead of undergoing surgery. There is no reason to subject yourself to these risks just to remove your skin moles.
